Congratulations to the girls from our Year 5/6 girls football team who represented Bishop Loveday at the County finals this week.
The top eight teams from across Oxfordshire came together at Tilsley Park in Abingdon and played 5-a-side games in two groups initially and then progressed to the knockout phase.
There was some amazing talent on show and great teamwork between our team.
Finishing 7th overall, we are so proud of our girls, the determination they showed and the way they played with courage and respect for others. A huge thank you to Mr Hogan who coached and managed the team for the morning.

This week got off to a very busy start with the BGN family Quadkids competition.
Teams from across KS2 represented BLS in this large athletics event in which teams of up to five boys and five girls take part in a sprint, vortex throw, standing long jump and a middle distance run. All individual scores are compiled and brought together to produce a team result. We were very lucky to be able to enter four teams from across Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, taking 37 children in total, with over 185 children taking part from St Mary's ALW, St Josephs, Longford Park, St Johns & Orchard Fields schools. The School Games value was DETERMINATION which was very appropriate for our pupils as the results below show.
Year 3/4 Event | |
Boys: 2nd Antony | Girls: 1st Ioka; 2nd Adeline |
Year 5/6 Event | |

With such amazing individual results we were absolutely delighted to find out that our team results were as follows.

Year 5/6 Competition | |
Year 6 Team: 1st | Year 5 Team: 4th |
A special mention to Ruby, Cameron, Harry and Mason who received a special award for showing such determination across all four activities.
Congratulations to all our athletes who took part and good luck to our Year 4 and 6 teams who have qualified for the North Oxfordshire finals next term.

Some of our Year 2 children had a lovely morning at the NOSSP All Stars Cricket Festival.
We took part in lots of activities that focused on the cricket skills: throwing, aiming, batting, bowling & running.
Lots of other local schools attended too and it was led by BGN Sports Leaders with the support of Zoe Pugh from Oxfordshire Cricket Board.
Thank you to Rory Mawn from NOSSP for organising the event.

Some of our Year 4 pupils had a lovely morning at Wykham Park Academy this week.
We joined schools from: Deddington, Hanwell Fields, Queensway and The Grange and Sports Leaders from WPA. They all took part in an orienteering festival with each small group led by the secondary school leaders. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and demonstrated School Games Values of passion and self- belief throughout the morning.
